 2016 Preview 


       W.S. Neal completed the 2015 season with a 8-3 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region one, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. W.S. Neal's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Munford by a score of 20-0.

       Since 2010, W.S. Neal has gone a combined 30-34. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, W.S. Neal has managed to compile a record of 149-122. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 4A and 126th in the AHSAA.

       The Eagles are led by head coach Doug Hoehn who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 30-24 over the past five seasons at W.S. Neal. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hoehn.

       Coach Hoehn's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 30-24 (55.6%).

       The W.S. Neal Eagles will play in Class 4A region one during the 2016 season.

       The Eagles will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season.

       The Eagles open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Tallassee on Friday, August 26 at J.E. Hot Obrien Stadium. Last year the Tallassee Tigers finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 5A region three. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Jackson by a score of 35-7.

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
